    I tried going to your website and it said it was not http supported so I didn't go. It would seem a good idea to put a link in your videos on how to get the rope and tool for djembe repairs. I can't find it. Please advise.

      Yes, both rings should be the same size to sandwich the skin between the two rings.

    It's hard to see how you're doing the beginning knot/loop. Is there another video that shows this?

    • @wwdrums
      @wwdrums 5 месяцев назад

      I'm not sure if there is a better view. Think of the knot as a simple granny knot but using two pieces of rope looped together. Not sure if that helps.

  • @iRideuWatch

    How much time should I set aside to do this for the first time? I want to be sure to finish it before the skin dries.

    • @wwdrums
      @wwdrums 5 месяцев назад

      I would plan on two hours. I start soaking the skin while I remove the rope from the drum. This will take about 30 min to 1 hour. Then it will take about an hour to re-lace the drum with the new skin on. Don't worry about the skin drying out in the time it take you to get the skin on. It will take the skin at least 24 hours to dry to the point you can tune it. Don't forget to trim the excess skin before it dries.

    Hey there! Thanks so much for your videos! Just wondering if it's possible to remove a skin, re-soak it and re-install it on the djembe? I got someone to replace the skin on my drum as I had little time before a flight & they didn't do the best job so I want to re-do it myself before I shave the hair and tune it, just wondering if that's possible or will it ruin the skin to re-soak it?

    Have you thought about a video on tuning a dundun? Every time, I tried tightening the rope verticals as much as I could, as I tried not to have to do diamonds on it. I could never get it in the tuning that I want, and the ending knot I use would undo itself over time.

    • @wwdrums

      Djun Djuns are hard to tune. I do not have much experience with Dun Duns. I noticed it takes several passes to get a Djun to come up in pitch.

    Good explanation on keeping the rings level. It follows my montra, dont get greedy, it is not how hard you pull, it is know when not to pull hard.

  • @shortypalmer2560
    @shortypalmer2560 Год назад

    I think you did well cutting it fairly straight with the scissors. When I cut a skin, I use a very sharp knife and lay it almost flat on the head and follow the top of the drum and leave that edge longer, It will shrink shorter on its own and give a bit extra in case the skin slips between the rings. Not sure how well the skin dried flat up against the rim but we use the legs of a panty hose to wrap that edge tight and it will perfectly flat with zero wrinkles. I have a video of how we do it on my channel

    On a seasoned djembe, when the verticals have accumulated too much slack to use diamonds but not enough to rap around a broom stick, how do you start pulling off that slack without the specialized lever?

    • @nicholaszwack4948
      @nicholaszwack4948 Год назад

      You should be able to get the handle between the ropes without wrapping around and pull some slack into the rope. If not, unlace the verticals enough to get a wrap on the handle. You may need to loosen before you tighten.
